Catherine O'Hara. Beautiful babe. Noone would throw her out!
RIP John Candy and Joe Flaherty. 🕊🕊
RIP Joe Flaherty (June 21, 1941 - April 1, 2024), aged 82 And RIP John Candy (October 31, 1950 - March 4, 1994), aged 43 You both will be remembered as legends.
This intro was used in the last 5 episodes of cycle 1 of season 4. Strangely enough, this is also where most of the footage in this intro is used for the syndicated intro.
Is it me for a moment or does Joe look unbelievably gorgeous in this sequence?
I'd be like Joe Flaherty, out working in a rose garden right now, if we actually had weather befitting the recent transition to spring instead of a continuation of winter in the PNW. @0:27, was Dave Thomas doing an impersonation of Stephen J. Cannell at the end of the respective TV series that he was responsible for bringing to the airwaves?
"...hey, look at that weird mirror..."
This belongs in a Time Capsule!
I can't believe you have stuff from The New Show! Thanks very much!
I never knew Harold Ramis was on this show.
It rains TVs in Mellonville hehehehehe
That was so awkward. He announced his engagement, and no one initially clapped. Dead silence. That audience has ice water in their veins. That was cold blooded.
First time I saw this was like WTF! Been an SCTV fan ever since.
Props to the band for the Captain Geech and the Shrimpshack Shooters cover lol

The theme tune is a De Wolfe library tune, if anyone was curious. Here's an upload, in stereo too! ruclips.net/video/Pc_ZUK1XmCo/видео.html
The theme tune wasn't a Canadian recording, or even commissioned for the program. I just found it was a De Wolfe library recording. You can even hear it in stereo in this link: ruclips.net/video/Pc_ZUK1XmCo/видео.html
I stumbled across the SCTV theme song. I thought it was commissioned for the show, but they actually took a De Wolfe library tune. ruclips.net/video/Pc_ZUK1XmCo/видео.html
I love how a few people didn't even open their windows before throwing out their t.v. LOL
This is how I feel now a days!! Hundreds of channels of CRAP!!!! I wish I lived on the 30th floor just to do that!!!!
Easily the best one.
0:45 - Isn't that Leonard Goldenson's cameo?
😁I loved how John Candy threw that television out the window...lol
Threw it like Donkey Kong throwing barrels.
@@JanetStarChild Or like Grogan 🐲 catching, crushing, and slamming a fighter jet 🛩️ to the floor 💥, in a ritualustic act of self-termination by special request, on the Tim Ishimuni Show 📺.
Gino Vannelli !!! LOL

At 1:05 when the bus pulls up--the building seen just up from the bus on the left is Sick Children's Hospital in Toronto
omg -- I think this is how FOX got the idea!!!
Oh No I turned into Jimmy Carter
32-35 Funny Stuff!!
Joe Flaherty said it was Saul Rubinek getting pushed off the sidewalk in the opening. He was in a nice comedy called "Soup for One" later on with Andrea Martin.
Knowing that now makes it even funnier!
Wahh para jaman old
What did I just watch?? No, seriously, my attention span only lasts 20 seconds and...
After getting experience at Second City in Toronto most of the cast got their first chance on television on a hugely forgettable show called the David Steinberg show---that show was horrible but it was essentially the springboard for SCTV and their great success that followed
I remember that name!
I like this tune but it’s nothing like the Spike Jones type piece of music from the first season
I remember when a view years later when SCTV was gaining popularity-they did an opening where all the cast came to NYC-NBC HQ as "conquering heroes"--pulling up in limousines but after signing their contracts leaving on a city bus
0:17 I think that's Eugene Levy! It's very hard to mistake that nose! And those eyebrows!
Conan genuinely doesn’t like Brian posehn. If you go and watch all of conans interview with Brian he cuts the interviews short and subtlety insults him. He also looks like he’s anxious to end the show the wholentine
I guess I had just gone to college in '82, so I never really saw the last 2 seasons (TV wasn't big at my college). I never actually knew that by the end of it all, there were only 4 'original' players left.....sorta cannot imagine it without Moranis, O'Hara, and Thomas....
And John Candy.
"and Dave Thomas ...as the Beaver". Yup....
Ha. I didn't remember Robin Duke being there for a season....
This was before she was hired to do Saturday Night Live, during its really shaky years in the early 1980s. Ditto Tony Rosato.
Loved how Joe Flaherty was playing a Russian with an obvious fake mustache.
Love how Dave Thomas is out in the forest writing on a typewriter, and decides to have a “screw it, I am in!” look to his face when was asked to come with them.
Oh, I love the humorous irony... _"From the people who brought you the most popular TV show in syndication..."_ (TV sets shown being thrown out of apartment windows in a highrise.)
DECADES TV needs to do a binge weekend of showing SCTV!!!!!
That would be Great!!!!
Really SCTV wasn't really the same without Catherine O'Hara, John Candy, Rick Moranis, or Dave Thomas.
I agree, but the last season did have some good moments in it: that Happy Hour Western show, "Das Boobs", the Mel's Rock Pile that showed how the former hippies and flower children of the 1960s became conservative adults, and that parody of "Harvey" as done as a gritty, New York drama. And fun fact: this opening is from the series finale.
I remember it as SCTV Network 90.
It would be nice if DECADES TV would do a weekend binge of SCTV!!!!!
I feel your pain Brian. Thanks for making it hilarious.
This was known as the "Cycle 2" episodes opening (October 1981-February 1982) and the last ones to have the "90" in the title.
Actually, this is actually the last 5 episodes of cycle 1. Cycle 2 had a completely new intro and theme song.
Original season 4 opening, from May 1981, when it was first known as "SCTV Network 90".
Can't wait for season 4 to be posted, that's when all the pieces came together👍
